Dental Crown/ Bridge pre-op/ post-op
#1
Eat a light meal before dental appointment
It is always better to have something in your stomach before getting your dental fillings. You will have to be numbed and after treatment is finished it is recommended to wait an hour (sometimes two) before eating again.
#2
Temporary Crown/ Bridge
Usually the Crown/ Bridge consists of two separate procedures. First is the crown preparation where the shape of the tooth is modified (and decay is removed) then a temporary crown will be placed.
If this temporary crown comes off make sure to come back to the office (don't forget to bring it with you to your appointment if it comes off in one piece).
#3
Post-op
Try to avoid any hard, chewy, or sticky foods after your crown is placed for at-least 1-2 weeks. If you are experiencing sensitivity after fillings you may benefit from avoiding hot or cold drinks. Try something soft maybe soup or salads. Avoid opening bottles or tearing into packages. Make sure to make your follow up appointments. If your gums are sore try rinsing with warm salt water to help with discomfort.
